efforts to alleviate drivers’ workload with switching center
with the need to deal with the serious shortage of drivers and to ensure compliance, we were the first in the industry to set up a switch center in shimada, shizuoka prefecture, a relay point along our long-distance truck transportation route, in october 2014. we are accelerating efforts to ensure stable transportation.

we have improved the irregular work arrangements and long working hours of long-distance drivers. we have also created an environment that is comfortable for female drivers and younger drivers in order to eradicate the labor shortage.

relay transportation services to share long-distance transport
we have set up a switch center at shimada, shizuoka prefecture as a replay point halfway along the long-distance transportation route between kanto and kansai. there we conduct relay transportation in which long-distance transport is shared by multiple trailers. previously, one driver would drive each stage of a journey over one night and two days or two nights and three days. but by having trailers and drivers switch at the center, drivers can return to their homes that day. for the future, we have our eye on establishing switch centers between kansai and kyushu and between kanto and tohoku.
